Part 1: Mark 1:1-8
Pastor G starts his second "Just Jesus" verse-by-verse commentary series, inspired by the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:2 - "For I determined to know nothing among you EXCEPT Jesus Christ, and Him crucified." ~ 1 Corinthians 2:2. - Matthew is already completed. Now, we’re doing Mark. We’ll do Luke and John next. All of these will become a self-published commentary series on Amazon soon. Pastore Greg said he wanted to write a sermon series that wasn’t theme-focused, or felt-needs focused, but was focused entirely on the Gospel journies of Jesus. Who He is, how He loved, how He lived, what He taught, what He said, what He did. This week Greg covers Mark 1:1-8.
Mark 1:1–8
The Beginning of Something Big
Mark doesn’t waste time—he skips the backstory and jumps straight into action. We meet John the Baptist, this wild, camel-hair-wearing prophet out in the wilderness, preaching repentance and preparing the way for someone greater. He’s not the main event—he’s the opener for Jesus. This week, we’ll talk about what real preparation looks like, why repentance still matters, and how John’s bold message still hits home today. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s the launch of the greatest story ever told.
